Man Attacks Nursery Children With Knife In France
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has confirmed that a man attacked several people with a knife on Thursday morning in southeast France.
The incident took place in a park in the city of Annecy, injuring five people, including four nursery children who are about three years old.
The suspected attacker has been arrested by the police.
Local sources report that two of the children who were injured are in critical condition. The police have not revealed the identity of the attacker.
President Emmanuel Macron commented on the incident, saying, "The whole nation is on the side of the victims and their families. We are thinking of them." He has also assured that his government will take all necessary steps to bring the perpetrator to justice.
The attack comes as France is on high alert following several terrorist attacks.
In October last year, a school teacher was beheaded in a Paris suburb, and earlier this year, three people were killed in a knife attack at a church in Nice.
Authorities are investigating the incident and are urging people to avoid the area.
The attack has sent shockwaves across the country, with people expressing their shock and horror on social media.
