DSS Warns Against Disrupting Presidential Inauguration

The Department of State Services, DSS, has cautioned against disruptive behavior and disregarding safety protocols during the Presidential inauguration activities, as well as the inauguration of new governors in most states, on May 29, 2023 in Abuja.

The secret police said it received intelligence regarding plans by subversive elements to cause disarray in some parts of the country during the events.

DSS said the individuals aim to disrupt the security agencies' efforts in ensuring a peaceful ceremony and create panic amongst the public.

For this reason, the DSS advises individuals, the media, and Civil Society Organizations to adhere strictly to the safety and civil protocols during these events.

The public is also warned against spreading fake news, false alarms, and sensational reports as it may promote division, tension, and violence before and after the exercises. It is essential to maintain national unity and cohesion rather than propagate reckless practices.

Furthermore, the DSS cautions unauthorized and unaccredited individuals to avoid restricted and designated areas during the events.

The Service has previously encouraged citizens to remain law-abiding and calm during these events, and it is reiterating this call again.

Finally, the DSS pledged to continue collaborating with other security agencies to ensure the success of these inaugurations.
