Agencies Firms Up Security Ahead Of Inauguration
Security have been beefed up around Abuja, the nation's capital ahead of Monday, May 29 presidential inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Troops and equipment were sighted stationed at exit and entry points of the territory while joint military and police teams patrolling the inner city to apprehend suspected miscreants.
Police deployments were stationed at strategic locations, including the Presidential Villa and the Eagle Square.
The Department of State Services, DSS, had earlier issued a warning against disruptive and unruly behaviour, while the Inspector General of Police announced that personnel had been deployed to man all of Nigeria's borders, seaports and airports, as well as entry and exit points of Abuja and other government installations.
Meanwhile, academics have warned against preventing aggrieved Nigerians from protesting, seeing such action as unconstitutional and an infringement of human rights.
