Alleged Assault: Seun Kuti Storms Lagos Police Commissioner’s Office

Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, on Monday, submitted himself to the Lagos State Police Command following the directive to have him arrested on the allegation of assaulting a police officer in a viral video.

Inpector General of Police, Usman Baba, in a statement during the weekend had ordered the Lagos State Police Commissioner to arrest the singer over the allegation.

Seun was captured in a heated argument with the officer who was standing in the middle of a busy road in the video.

During the altercation, Seun slapped the officer.

The younger Kuti who is son to the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti had pledged to cooperate with police in its investigations even as he claimed to have proofs for his action.

On Monday, Seun kept to his word that he would cooperate with the police to investigate the incident by visiting the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa.

Te singer was accompanied by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, and the duo was still with the police commissioner at the time of filing this report.
