Army Chief Commissions Town Hall In Oyo, Pledges More Support for Communities

The general public had been assured that the Nigerian Army will continue to give back to the society in recognition of the cooperation and support enjoyed from them towards actualizing its constitutional mandate.
Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya gave the assurance on Friday in Akinmoorin in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The COAS who made the promised during the commissioning of a 1,000-capacity Town Hall project in the town noted that the effort targeted at strengthening Civil Military Cooperation of the Nigerian Army (NA).
He directed that the building be utilized for the collective good of the community.
Gen. Yahaya in a statement signed by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu and obtained by AbujaCityJournal, commended the loyalty of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army for their service and sacrifices in defending the nation.
While urging them to sustain the peace and harmony he witnessed in the community for the progress and development of Oyo state and the nation at large, the COAS further encouraged them to remain committed in the ongoing fight against series of security challenges confronting the country.
On his part, the project executor, Maj.Gen. Olufemi Akinjobi, an indigene of Akinmoorin community, described the commissioning of the project as a remarkable landmark in Akinmoorin Kingdom and assured the community’s support in the realization of the COAS' vision, progress, peace and development of the country.
The event was attended by principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders, General Officers Commanding (GOC) 2 and 81 Divisions, Heads of Security Agencies, the Amoorin of Akinmoorin, His Royal Highness, Oba Solomon Iyiola Akinyemi, Oyo State Government functionaries, Retired military officers and members of the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association (NAOWA) among other dignitaries.
