The Nigerian military says ongoing joint operations across the country have led to the conviction of four criminal suspects in Plateau State, marking another success in its intensified campaign against insecurity.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this in Abuja while briefing journalists on recent operational achievements by troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Kangye said the four suspects were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Jos South Local Government Area on October 8, 2025, where they pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft. They were each sentenced to one year imprisonment.
He added that troops of Operation Fansan Yamma arrested a suspected gunrunner and two drug cartel members in Kaduna and Zamfara States, recovering 1,307 live rounds of ammunition, vehicles, mobile phones, motorcycles, illicit drugs, and ₦227,000 in cash.
In the South-South, troops of Operation Delta Safe foiled an oil theft operation valued at over ₦98 million, seizing 92,500 litres of stolen crude oil and destroying illegal refining sites, boats, and storage tanks.
Kangye commended the troops’ bravery and dedication, assuring Nigerians of the military’s continued commitment to securing every part of the country.
Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission (PSC), has approved the promotion of senior officers, including AIG Dankwara Adamu Mohammed, who now moves up to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), replacing retired DIG Sahabu Yahaya.
Also promoted were CP Abibo Deinma Reuben, now Assistant Inspector General (AIG), and 11 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), elevated to Commissioners. The PSC also advanced 13 Assistant Commissioners to DCPs, 44 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners, and 412 Superintendents to Chief Superintendents.
PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation with professionalism and integrity.
