The full list of subjects in Nigeria’s newly introduced national school curriculum has surfaced online after the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, shared it on Wednesday.
Posting an unsigned and unmarked image on his X handle, Olusegun wrote: “The new curriculum for Nigerian schools which will commence from the next session in September 2025 has been released.”
Unveiled by the Federal Government on Sunday, the revised curriculum introduces compulsory digital literacy and entrepreneurship at the junior level, while programming, artificial intelligence, and new languages feature at the senior level.
At the Junior Secondary School (JSS), level, pupils will now take core subjects such as mathematics, English, integrated science, digital literacy and coding, social studies, languages, creative arts, and physical and health education.
For Senior Secondary School (SSS), the curriculum expands into advanced mathematics, English and communication, sciences, technology and innovation, social sciences, foreign languages, creative arts, physical education, and compulsory research and project work.
According to the government, the reform is aimed at equipping Nigerian students with 21st-century skills in digital technology, entrepreneurship, and global communication while strengthening traditional learning in science, mathematics, and literature.
