The Concerned Students of the University of Abuja have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reinstate Professor Aisha Maikudi as Vice Chancellor, describing her brief tenure as transformative. They said her leadership brought reforms that improved discipline, infrastructure, research, and student welfare, earning her widespread acclaim within and beyond the academic community.
According to the students, Prof. Maikudi’s inclusive and bold governance style repositioned the university and inspired hope among both staff and students.
Her removal, they argued, created a void that has stalled the momentum of change, leaving many yearning for continuity.
They stressed that reinstating her would reflect President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes competence, innovation, and inclusivity.
“This is not just about Prof. Maikudi as an individual,” the group noted, “but about thousands of students whose future depends on the reforms she initiated and the broader society that relies on the University of Abuja to produce tomorrow’s leaders.”
The students urged Tinubu, as Visitor to the university, to consider their appeal, insisting that her reinstatement would ensure that the transformative work she began is completed for the benefit of the institution and the nation at large.
