The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has issued a stern warning that it will withhold approval for admissions in the 2024 and 2025 academic sessions from any tertiary institution that fails to submit its matriculation list.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made this announcement during a meeting with Admission Desk Officers, as published in the board’s official bulletin.
He stressed that institutions which did not submit matriculation lists for the 2022 and 2023 admission cycles will face disapproval of their forthcoming admission exercises.
While a temporary concession has been granted for the ongoing 2024 admission process, Prof. Oloyede cautioned that this leniency will not extend beyond its conclusion.
The bulletin added that defaulting institutions will be summoned for meetings, and affiliate institutions will be called alongside their parent bodies to face sanctions.
To enforce compliance, JAMB plans to publish warnings in major national newspapers, alerting institutions that admission approvals will be withheld for non-compliance.
Admission Desk Officers have been tasked with ensuring their institutions strictly follow the directive.
JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that a list of non-compliant institutions will be made public soon.
Earlier, the Federal Ministry of Education mandated all tertiary institutions to submit matriculation lists to JAMB as part of efforts to curb illegal admissions, where students are enrolled without proper registration with the board.
