The Niger State police command has directed its commanders to engage the public in intelligence gathering and responsive policing as yuletide season approaches.
This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday in Minna issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun.

Mr Abiodun said the measure was a strategy to secure lives and property in the ember month.

According to him, “The months of September to December are customarily known and referred to as “ember months.” They are usually associated with an upsurge in social, economic and political activities culminating in the rise in human and vehicular movement. This unfortunately also culminates in increased crimes, such as armed robbery, house/shop breaking, theft of vehicles, traffic violations and other related anti-social behaviours.’’

He said, the state Commissioner of Police, Shawulu Danmamman, has directed area commanders, tactical commanders and divisional police officers to emplace robust crime prevention measures.

Mr Abiodun said they should ensure effective visibility policing with adequate community/stakeholder engagement for intelligence gathering and responsive policing.

He said that the operation order for the season had been drawn with an adequate number of police personnel mobilised across the state.

Besides, the police spokesperson said that Operation Flush and other operational assets of the command had been deployed to tackle prospective urban crime.

The CP urged residents of the state and other members of the public to be vigilant and security cautious within their immediate environment.

Furthermore, He urged them to report any suspicious situation to the police and other security agencies for immediate intervention.

He enjoined the public to contact the following phone numbers in case of any distress situation for quick response: 07031964389 and 08075391601.E

Hosts Morocco will face Senegal at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah, with kick-off scheduled for 8:00pm local time.

CAF said in a statement on Friday that the commemorative ball was designed to honour the two finalists. The ITRI ball, used throughout the tournament, draws inspiration from traditional Moroccan zellij designs, featuring star shapes, floral patterns and circular symmetry.

Built on PUMA’s Orbita 6 technology, CAF noted that the ball blends cultural heritage with innovation while meeting elite performance standards.

CAF and PUMA had earlier unveiled the ITRI ball as the official match ball for AFCON 2025.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that Nigerians are largely agreed that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government has failed to meet expectations and tackle the country’s major challenges.

In a statement on Thursday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, cited persistent economic hardship, worsening insecurity and rising living costs under President Bola Tinubu’s administration as evidence of what it described as poor governance.

The ADC said growing public dissatisfaction reflects frustration with the APC’s inability to deliver on its promises since coming to power.

The party urged the federal government to address the concerns of ordinary Nigerians and called on citizens to hold leaders accountable ahead of the 2027 general elections.
