Investigation Launched Into Suspicious Death Of Engineer Nnaji In His Abuja Residence

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has initiated an investigation into the untimely demise of construction engineer, Humphrey Uchenna Nnaji, in his Abuja home.

The lifeless body of Nnaji was discovered in his residence located in the Dawaki area of the FCT on Saturday, July 8, 2023, raising suspicions of a potential crime.

According to reports, unknown assailants gained unauthorized access to Nnaji's apartment and are believed to be responsible for his tragic demise.

The discovery was made after neighbors, oblivious to the unfortunate event, noticed a repugnant odor emanating from Nnaji's appartment and promptly alerted the police.

Musa, a local commercial driver in the vicinity, recounted the arrival of law enforcement officers who, upon entering the apartment, found Nnaji's body seated on a chair.

Nnaji's remains were found within his residence in the Dawaki area. The police arrived to remove the body on Saturday around 8 pm. Given the state of decomposition, it is likely that the incident occurred prior to that day. The community is still grappling with the shocking nature of this incident. As of now, the house remains cordoned off," Musa shared.

A credible source within the FCT Police Command disclosed that during the preliminary examination of the crime scene, authorities discovered a blood-stained sledgehammer alongside Nnaji's body. Moreover, a handwritten note was found, allegedly penned by an individual identifying themselves as Alfa. The note claimed responsibility for the killing, citing vengeance for the demise of Alfa's sister, and accused Nnaji of involvement in illicit activities.

"The deceased appears to have been struck with a hammer, as a sledgehammer with blood stains was found nearby. Additionally, the back of Nnaji's head exhibited a deep laceration. He was discovered seated on his chair, with two sections of a charging cord entwined around his neck," the source revealed.

The spokesperson for the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident and affirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Nnaji's tragic death.
