Guglielmo Vicario Joins Tottenham on €19m Deal
Tottenham Hotspur has officially signed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli for an initial fee of £17.2m.
The transfer also includes bonuses on top of the initial fee.
The new Spurs player will wear the No 13 shirt, and he has signed a contract with the club that will last until 2028.
Vicario had an impressive two-year spell with Empoli, playing 71 matches in all competitions for the Serie A team.
His eye-catching performances earned him a call-up to Italy's national team in September 2022.
Tottenham is looking for a replacement for their long-serving goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris.
The France international, who won the World Cup in 2018, has signalled his intent to move on to a new challenge this summer.
Vicario is expected to fill Lloris' shoes and be the club's new long-term goalkeeper.
His arrival at the North London club marks another key summer signing for new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Spurs boss has been busy in the transfer window, bringing in top-quality players in key positions such as centre-back and attacking options. Tottenham's supporters will hope the new signings can help push the club back to the heights of Champions League qualification.
The 27-year-old Vicario will be eager to prove himself in the Premier League, and Tottenham's fans will be hoping that he can replicate the impressive performances he displayed while playing for Empoli.
