The organisers of the National Essay Competition powered by the Abuja City Journal (ACJ), have unveiled the faces of 26 finalists selected from across Nigeria for the 3rd edition of the annual competition scheduled for November 26, 2025, in Abuja.
The finalists, drawn from 16 states, emerged from over 10,000 entries submitted nationwide. They will compete for the top prizes of ₦5 million, ₦3 million, and ₦2 million, respectively.
In a press release signed by the CEO/Publisher, Abuja City Journal (ACJ), Mr Foluso Sylvanus Ojo, ACJ maintained that this year’s competition is designed to deepen the values of integrity, discipline, and intellectual excellence among young Nigerians, while spotlighting rising talents from various academic fields.
The finalists represent disciplines such as Medicine and Surgery, Law, Architecture, Mass Communication, Political Science, Dentistry, Nursing, English Language, Philosophy, and Systems Engineering.
Among the outstanding finalists are Vincent Ikechukwu Maduka (Anambra), a 500-level Medicine & Surgery student of UNN; Bolaji Blessing Bolanle (Ekiti), a 400-level Mass Communication student at Pan-Atlantic University; Abubakar Yusuf Ado (Kano), a 400-level Pharmacy student of Bayero University; Abdulsalam Hameeda Ize (Kogi), a 500-level Common & Islamic Law student; and Anselm-Ahman Loveson Uyo-Ojo (Kogi), a 600-level medical student of the University of Jos.
Others include Chatta Lois Ayomide, Onilede Bukola Gift, Ekam Emediong Elijah, Fasingba Bridget Adams, Tigiri Cynthia, Gana Sharon Alheri, Olorunfemi Samuel Akinduyite, Abiola Farida Adedunni, Ogunneye Ayomide Christopher, Zafaran Muneeb Olawale, Bodunrin Anuoluwapo Olufunke, Ochigbo David Onobi, Abdulhamid Robiu Baba, Ekwelem Laura Chisom, Adeleke Oluwasegun Emmanuel, Oluwafeyikemi Marvellous Alawode, Egiebor Eghosasere Solomon, Akwaji Elvis Chisom, Onwe Chukwuebuka Praise, Joseph Chidiebube Eluu, and Ezeoba Mary-Jane Chiamaka.
The grand finale will feature live presentations before a panel of distinguished judges and will be hosted by renowned comedian Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kie Kie.
Organisers say the event will also expose participants to mentorship, networking, and national visibility.
ACJ CEO and Publisher, Foluso Sylvanus Ojo, praised the finalists for their resilience and creativity, noting that the competition continues to play a vital role in shaping Nigeria’s next generation of thinkers and leaders.
