Nestlé Professional, the out-of-home business arm of Nestlé Nigeria, has trained more than 2,600 food vendors through its Business of Food workshop series since its inception.
The latest edition took place in Bauchi State, where 250 vendors, canteen operators, and caterers received hands-on training to sharpen both their culinary and business skills. Sessions focused on menu planning, food hygiene, pricing, customer service, and food styling.
According to Ibraheem Awelenje, Business Manager at Nestlé Professional Nigeria, the initiative is aimed at helping small food businesses grow in Nigeria’s highly competitive food service sector.
“Our goal is to see food vendors in Nigeria not just survive but thrive,” he said, praising Bauchi’s entrepreneurs for blending tradition with innovation.
The workshop featured a live masterclass by Nigerian chef Paulina, who demonstrated modern twists to traditional recipes.
It also included a cooking challenge that showcased participants’ creativity and presentation skills.
Some participants, like Justina Stephen, Managing Director of Justfine Restaurants, described the training as transformative, citing improvements in menu planning and pricing strategies.
Nestlé said the Business of Food series has continued to improve livelihoods by upgrading menus, boosting customer loyalty, and creating new income opportunities.
The company reiterated its commitment to driving innovation, improving nutrition, and supporting sustainable growth in Nigeria’s food service industry.
