Grammy-winning South African sensation Tyla has officially released the music video for her latest single Dynamite, featuring Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, and it’s already making waves, amassing over 1.3 million views within days on the Water crooner’s YouTube channel.
The vibrant collaboration, which fans first caught wind of when Tyla teased a few lyrics on X weeks ago, was actually recorded with Wizkid several years back. The video’s style is minimalist yet striking, marked by a playful, colourful aesthetic that mirrors the song’s flirtatious tone. Lyrically, Dynamite explores sensuality, lighthearted banter between the sexes, and celebrates female allure.
A standout element for listeners has been Tyla’s seamless adaptation of a Nigerian accent in her delivery, complementing Wizkid’s smooth vocals over the rhythmic, catchy beat. This vocal synergy has drawn praise from fans across both nations.
More than just a hit song, Dynamite is being celebrated online as a testament to the creative potential that can emerge when Nigerian and South African artists choose unity and cultural exchange over division and xenophobia. Social media reactions range from playful banter to high praise:
“Grammy award-winning collaborators making a banger,” one fan wrote.
“This one is even better than Is It Wrong,” another commented.
“We got Tyla speaking Pidgin before GTA 6,” joked a user.
Others urged Tyla to consider more Nigerian collaborations, suggesting names like Davido for future projects. For now, though, Dynamite stands tall as a feel-good, cross-border summer anthem, proof that music remains one of Africa’s strongest unifying forces.
