President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the prestigious national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all 24 players of Nigeria’s victorious Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) team. In a further display of appreciation, each player will also receive a substantial cash reward of $100,000 and a brand-new three-bedroom apartment.
Members of the Super Falcons’ technical crew were not left out, as they each received a cash reward of $50,000 as part of the presidential recognition.
The announcement was made during a special reception held in honour of the team at the State House on Monday, July 28, 2025. The champions, led by team captain Rasheedat Ajibade and head coach Justin Madugu, arrived at the Presidential Villa at 4:35 p.m. to a rousing welcome from President Tinubu and other dignitaries.
This grand reception fulfills President Tinubu’s earlier pledge to personally celebrate the team following their landmark 3-2 victory against Morocco in the WAFCON final on Saturday.
