Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal, with reports confirming that he is set to undergo a medical ahead of his £51 million transfer.
The deal is reportedly in its final stages, with all necessary documents signed and both clubs reaching full agreement on the terms.
Arsenal triggered Zubimendi’s £51m release clause, securing a key summer target for manager Mikel Arteta.
Zubimendi has long been linked with a move to the Emirates, and his arrival comes as Jorginho exits the club to join Flamengo on a free transfer.
Thomas Partey’s future at Arsenal remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire next month and no extension in place.
The BBC reports that Zubimendi’s medical is imminent, and an official announcement will follow once the examinations are completed.
Arsenal aims to finalise the deal before the 26-year-old joins Spain for the upcoming Nations League finals.
The midfielder’s arrival marks Arsenal’s first major signing of the summer transfer window and a significant boost to their squad depth.
The Gunners have been monitoring Zubimendi for several months, having fended off previous interest from Liverpool, who failed to lure him to the Premier League last summer.
Zubimendi chose to stay at Real Sociedad at the time, but with the Spanish side missing out on European football next season, he is now ready for a new challenge. At Arsenal, he will reunite with former Sociedad teammates Martin Ødegaard and Mikel Merino.
Meanwhile, Arsenal continue their search for a new centre-forward, with interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres as potential targets.
