Grammy-nominated Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has made history as the first Nigerian female artiste to surpass 1 billion views on YouTube, a milestone driven largely by the global success of her hit singles Rush and Commas, which collectively contributed over 500 million views.

According to BusinessDay’s report titled “Top 16 Nigerian Music Artists with Most YouTube Views,” Ayra Starr ranks among the platform’s top Nigerian performers, sitting just behind Fireboy DML-an indication of her growing dominance in the music industry.

The Mavin Records star announced the achievement via her Instagram fan page, celebrating the moment as a significant step forward for female artistes in Nigeria.

With this feat, she has now surpassed Yemi Alade’s record to become the most-viewed Nigerian female artiste of all time on the platform.

Ayra Starr joins the elite league of Nigerian artists-Burna Boy, Flavour, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Ckay, Kizz Daniel, P-Square, Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, and Tekno-who have also crossed the 1 billion YouTube views mark.

Earlier in May, the singer earned the prestigious Platinum Certification in the United Kingdom for Rush, which surpassed 600,000 combined sales and streams.

The hit track also marked her debut on the UK Official Top 100, further cementing her reputation as one of the most sought-after African music artistes on the global stage.

The event will take place on July 13, 2025, at the MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.

Tems will share the global stage with Colombian reggaeton sensation J Balvin and American rapper Doja Cat during the final match of the newly expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup, which will run from June 14 to July 13 across 12 venues in 11 U.S. cities.
