Nigerian music star and politician Bankole Wellington, better known as Banky W, has earned a Master’s degree in Policy Management from the prestigious McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University, Washington DC.

The 44-year-old shared the milestone on Instagram yesterday, May 20, 2025, celebrating his academic journey while juggling parenting, politics and public service.

“Faith gives you the courage, resilience and power to redefine endings,” Banky W wrote, reflecting on a demanding season that saw him raising two children in the United States, pursuing a full-time postgraduate degree and serving as a Fellow on Capitol Hill.

He described the experience as exhausting but transformative, urging others to embrace growth and renewal.

“It’s never too late to dream a new dream,” he added, signaling a renewed drive as he prepares to return to public life.

Banky W’s achievement has been met with praise from fans and peers alike, who view it as proof of his evolving influence beyond entertainment.

Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has recorded a landmark victory in its academic journey as the National Universities Commission grants full accreditation to eighteen of its programmes.

The commendation follows a rigorous assessment by the Commission in October and November 2024, with formal confirmation delivered in a letter dated April 30, 2025, and signed by Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu.

The green light spans a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including core disciplines like Law, Psychology, Civil Engineering, and Christian Religious Studies.

Other accredited programmes include Computer Engineering, Geology, and several advanced business and education degrees such as M.Sc. in Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, and Education Technology fields.

This feat comes shortly after the institution was named Nigeria’s best state university in the Times Higher Education 2025 rankings—a double honour that cements EKSU’s rising academic profile.

Reacting to the achievement, Vice Chancellor Professor Babatola Ayodele called it “a dream realized,” praising the dedication of both staff and leadership.

He thanked key figures such as Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Chancellor Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, and Pro-Chancellor Professor Akin Oyebode for their unwavering support in steering the university toward global relevance.

“This milestone is a bold affirmation of our promise to deliver quality education across disciplines,” the Vice Chancellor affirmed.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has admitted to a major technical failure that disrupted the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for over two hundred and six thousand candidates nationwide.

JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed the development during a press briefing today, acknowledging widespread complaints and confirming that the board’s investigation found serious lapses in specific centres across the country.

Out of one point five million candidates who sat for the exam, over eighteen thousand filed formal complaints.

Following careful scrutiny, the board found that fifteen thousand of those petitions were valid, with the most affected centres located in Lagos and the South East, particularly the Owerri zone.

Professor Oloyede announced that all affected candidates will retake the examination. “This decision was not made lightly,” he said, “but it reflects our duty to uphold fairness and integrity in our national testing process.”

He thanked the media for drawing attention to the issue and assured Nigerians that JAMB will strengthen its technical systems to prevent future failures.

The board will soon notify the affected candidates of their new exam dates as efforts intensify to restore confidence in the examination process.
