Pastor Peter Adeagbo of Peculiar People’s Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Kubwa – Abuja has warned Christians in Nigeria never to cross into the new year (2025) by chance.

Charging parishioners during the crossover service, Pastor Adeagbo maintained that preparation is key. He explained that preparation determines success not spirituality alone.

The man of God stated that there would be obstacles in the new year but it should make the faithful strong and not to demoralize them. ” For any man to make it in life or get double glory, such a person must be prepared.”

He explained that prayer and fasting are necessary but self determination and preparation to make it is more important

Rapping up his exaltation, Pastor Adeagbo charged that to enjoy 2025, “Prepare your heart not religion. Be focused, persistent and stop giving excuses because it limits a man”

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has extended the registration deadline for the 2025 Hajj to January 30, 2025, in line with adjustments to the Hajj calendar by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

In a statement on Monday, the Board’s spokesperson, Mohammed Aliyu, explained that the extension aligns with NAHCON’s directive for all state Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Agencies to remit collections by February 1, 2025.

He disclosed that over 40% of the FCT’s allocation for the 2025 Hajj has already been taken since registration began in September 2024.

He urged intending pilgrims to register early, emphasizing the Board’s first-come, first-served policy.

Prospective pilgrims must deposit a minimum of N8.4 million via bank draft payable to the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Payments can be made at the Board’s headquarters in Abuja or at designated offices in the six area councils, pending NAHCON’s final announcement of the Hajj fare.

Intending pilgrims who previously made deposits but could not travel in past exercises must top up their payments to meet the new deposit requirement before the deadline.

Aliyu reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to excellent service delivery, urging residents to secure their slots before the January 30 deadline.

TEKAN Decries High Cost of Governance, Urges Urgent Reforms

By Our Correspondent

The Fellowship of Churches of Christ in Nigeria (TEKAN), has condemned the high cost of governance in Nigeria, calling on leaders to cut wasteful spending and prioritize citizens’ welfare amid worsening economic hardship.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its 69th General Assembly in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, TEKAN criticized the lavish lifestyles of elected officials while the majority of Nigerians struggle with inflation and poverty.

The statement, signed by its President, Rev. Joel Stephen Billi, and Secretary, Rev. Augustine Akawu Elisha, urged all levels of government to redirect funds toward improving living standards.

The Christian body, comprising 15 denominational churches with evangelical roots, also called for massive investment in agriculture to boost food production for local consumption and export.

It warned that inflation, worsened by the floating of the naira, must be tackled to ease economic pressure on citizens.

On insecurity, TEKAN expressed deep concern over the persistent violence disrupting food production and national stability.

It urged the federal government to intensify efforts in combating insecurity while encouraging communities to collaborate with security agencies and form vigilante groups within legal boundaries.

While acknowledging some progress in palliative measures following the fuel subsidy removal, TEKAN stressed that more decisive action is needed to alleviate Nigerians’ suffering and ensure lasting economic relief.
