Controversial rapper Darlington Achakpo, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail after nearly a month in police custody.
His lawyer, Stanley Alieke, announced the development on Instagram, stating, “Apki has been granted bail by the court,” without disclosing further details.
Darlington was arrested on November 27 during a performance in Owerri, Imo State, following an alleged altercation involving Afrofusion star Burna Boy (Damini Ogulu).
The incident reportedly stemmed from Darlington’s provocative remarks about Burna Boy’s association with U.S. rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is embroiled in allegations of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
Deji Adeyanju, another member of Darlington’s legal team, had earlier accused Burna Boy of orchestrating the arrest.
Despite his detention, Darlington remained vocal, vowing not to relent in criticizing Burna Boy’s ties to Diddy.
Adeyanju previously revealed that a court had ordered either Darlington’s arraignment within 48 hours or his release.
“Justice may take time, but it always prevails,” he noted.
The rapper’s release has drawn significant public attention, with fans closely following the case and its legal implications.
