The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has entered into a strategic partnership with Zeberced Group to develop industrial parks and innovation hubs within the territory, a move aimed at boosting economic development and fostering industrial growth in the nation’s capital.
This announcement was made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during a meeting with Zeberced Group’s management team, led by its Managing Director, Mr. Adil Kurt, on Thursday in Abuja.
Wike emphasized the importance of this collaboration in driving the economic agenda of Abuja, highlighting that the creation of industrial parks and innovation hubs is in line with the federal government’s broader efforts to diversify the Nigerian economy and reduce its reliance on oil revenues.
“The partnership will focus on establishing multiple industrial parks and innovation hubs,” Wike stated. “This is expected to create thousands of jobs and stimulate economic activities in Abuja, enhancing the region’s economic standing.”
Wike further explained that the project is part of a long-term vision to position Abuja as a key industrial hub in West Africa, attracting both local and foreign investment. By leveraging Abuja’s strategic location and infrastructure, the development of these industrial parks will enhance the territory’s capacity to manufacture goods locally, reduce imports, and promote innovation.
The minister also noted that the establishment of innovation hubs is crucial in the global shift toward knowledge-based economies. These hubs will serve as centers of research and development, fostering entrepreneurship, and supporting tech startups. The initiative is expected to place Abuja at the forefront of technological advancements, further diversifying the economic landscape of the region.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Adil Kurt, the Managing Director of Zeberced Group, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the project. He reiterated Zeberced’s commitment to ensuring that the industrial parks and innovation hubs are built to international standards, contributing to Nigeria’s industrial revolution.
“The industrial parks will serve as catalysts for economic growth, creating opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and large-scale industries to thrive,” Kurt said. “We are proud to partner with the FCTA in this ambitious endeavor and are confident that this project will set the foundation for sustainable economic development in the territory.”
The partnership with Zeberced Group comes at a critical time when the FCTA is exploring innovative ways to stimulate growth beyond the traditional sources of revenue. By creating an enabling environment for industrialization, the FCTA hopes to attract more investments, create a robust business ecosystem, and reduce unemployment rates in the region.
Wike added that the collaboration is aligned with the federal government’s vision to make Abuja a model city for economic progress. The industrial parks and innovation hubs are expected to serve as blueprints for similar projects in other parts of the country, advancing the government’s objective of creating economic zones that can drive industrialization nationwide.
The FCT Minister assured the Zeberced Group of the administration’s full support throughout the project’s implementation, noting that necessary regulatory approvals and infrastructure developments would be provided to facilitate its smooth execution.
