Popular Nigerian musician Alexander Adegbola Akande,  9ice, has been accused of orchestrating a violent attack against two individuals – Mr. Gbenga Olubunmi and Mr. Ifeoluwa Waheed Olubunmi – in a land dispute case in Ogun State.

A petition filed by Moses Ade-Ojo (Esq.) on behalf of the victims to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Biodun Alamutu, details allegations of criminal assault, battery, and attempted murder against 9ice and approximately 30 unidentified accomplices.

According to the petition in possession of Abuja City Journal, dated October 10, 2024, the incident occurred on September 23, 2024, when 9ice and his gang allegedly stormed the property of the complainants, Mr. Gbenga Olubunmi and Mr. Ifeoluwa Waheed Olubunmi, armed with various dangerous weapons.

The attack left both men severely injured.

The petition states that 9ice physically assaulted the complainants, using an iron rod to strike them on the head and other parts of their bodies, resulting in grievous bodily harm.

His armed thugs were said to have joined in the brutal assault, employing dangerous weapons like wooden planks and bottles.

“Mr. Alexander Adegbola Akande Abolore A.K.A 9ice pounced on Our Clients with an Iron and slammed it on Our Clients’ Heads, and other parts of their bodies which occassioned grievous bodily injuries and harm on our Clients since the day of the horrible incidence,” the petition reads.

“In the process, argument ensued. 9ice leading a band of thugs numbering about 30 while 9ice personally held weapons to hit the victims.”

The victims stated that they “have severely suffered grievous bodily harm, dehumanization, trauma, brutality, criminally assaults, by the conspiracy, criminal assaults, battery, wounding, and the attempted murder” from 9ice and his gang’s actions on the fateful day.

It was further gathered that emergency services were summoned to the scene while police officers were drafted to scurry the injured to the hospital.

The victims have entertained fear that statements made by 9ice while committing the assault, when he allegedly boasted that he would kill the complainants without consequence, may not allow their cae fly

asserting his 9ice was accused to have further boasted that his status as a celebrity offered him immunity that would shield him from legal repercussions.

In light of the allegations, the petition calls for the urgent arrest and prosecution of 9ice and his accomplices, stressing “the need for justice to be served and for the Nigerian police to demonstrate their commitment to upholding the law, regardless of an individual’s celebrity status.”

The petition urges the Commissioner of Police to take swift action, reflecting a growing public demand for accountability and justice in cases involving violent crime.

Abuja City Journal made efforts to speak to 9ice for his comment but to no avail

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), has replied former Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, over his allegation that the agency imported a toxic chemical from Poland, telling him to expect an invitation from the Department of State Services (DSS), as the matter has been referred for investigation.

El-Rufai had written to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, claiming opposition leaders had information that ONSA procured about 10 kilograms of thallium sulphate, a highly poisonous substance.

He requested clarification on the purpose, supplier, permits, quantity, storage arrangements and regulatory oversight, including involvement of agencies such as NAFDAC and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

In a response released to journalists on Sunday night, ONSA denied the allegation, stating it neither procured nor initiated any process to purchase thallium sulphate and had no intention of doing so.

The letter, signed by Brigadier-General O.M. Adesuyi on behalf of the NSA, said the allegation had been referred to the DSS for a comprehensive investigation, adding that El-Rufai and others with relevant information would be invited to provide evidence.
