President Bola Tinubu has extended a message of goodwill and congratulations to Nigerian Muslims as they commemorate this year’s Maulud Nabiy, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. In his message, the President emphasized the importance of using the occasion to reflect on the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet, urging Muslims to draw inspiration from his exemplary character.
In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu called on the Muslim faithful to take the Maulud as a period for deep reflection, remembering the virtues and values embodied by Prophet Muhammad. He described the Prophet as a symbol of purity, selflessness, perseverance, kindness, and compassion.
“As we mark the Maulud, we should all reflect on the life lived by Prophet Muhammad, exemplified by purity, selflessness, perseverance, kindness, and compassion. We must endeavour to imbibe those virtues,” Tinubu said.
The President also highlighted the significance of the occasion as a time to promote unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. He urged Muslims to use the Maulud holiday to pray for the well-being and prosperity of the nation, and to show empathy and compassion towards their fellow citizens, especially in times of difficulty and uncertainty.
“Our country is going through a time where empathy and compassion are more needed than ever. I call on all Nigerians, particularly the Muslim faithful, to dedicate this period to praying for our nation and for one another. Let us show love, care, and understanding towards those who may be facing challenges, just as Prophet Muhammad did during his lifetime,” Tinubu added.
He further encouraged Nigerians to look beyond religious and ethnic differences, urging them to see Maulud Nabiy as an opportunity to foster unity, peace, and shared values. According to the President, these principles are critical for the nation’s progress, especially in the face of economic, social, and security challenges.
“At a time like this, where divisions are often amplified, it is essential that we focus on what binds us together as a people. Let the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and kindness guide our actions, as we work collectively to build a stronger and more united Nigeria,” President Tinubu emphasized.
In conclusion, President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to ensuring a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Nigeria. He called on all citizens to continue working together in fostering a climate of understanding and collaboration, especially as the country navigates through various challenges.
“Together, we can achieve greatness. But we must first be willing to embrace the values that have stood the test of time—those taught by Prophet Muhammad. Let us be the change we want to see in our communities and in our nation,” he concluded.
