Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended an armed robbery suspect, Micheal Uke, at a guest house in the Jabi district of Abuja. The suspect was found in possession of a stolen vehicle, a Toyota Corolla with registration number ABC 258 LD, which had been taken at gunpoint on May 2, 2024, along the Kuje-Airport Road in Abuja.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement by the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, on Sunday. She revealed that the police were able to track down the stolen vehicle using advanced digital reconstruction intelligence, leading them to Ifego Guest Inn in Jabi, where Micheal Uke was staying.
Upon searching the premises, the police discovered that Uke had replaced the original registration number on the vehicle with another, reading REG NO: AGD 146 JP, in an attempt to disguise the stolen car. Further search revealed a number of incriminating items in his possession, including a POS machine, a knife, glass-dissolving chemicals, a military jungle hat, and the original registration number of the vehicle.
The discovery of these items raises further concerns about the suspect’s activities and potential involvement in other criminal acts. The presence of the POS machine suggests possible involvement in financial crimes, while the military jungle hat could indicate connections to other forms of illegal activity.
SP Josephine Adeh emphasized that the investigation is ongoing as the police work to uncover more details about the suspect’s criminal network and activities. The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of residents within the territory. He assured the public that the police would continue to deploy all necessary resources to safeguard lives and properties in the FCT.
CP Igweh also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police, stressing the importance of community involvement in maintaining security. The police provided several emergency lines for residents to report any concerns: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, 07057337653, PCB: 09022222352, and CRU: 08107314192
