Nigeria’s men’s 4×400-meter relay team faced a disappointing end to their Olympic campaign on Friday, despite advancing to the final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The quartet of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie initially made a strong showing, finishing second in their heat with a Season’s Best time of 2:59.81, just behind host nation France.

However, their progress was cut short when they were disqualified for stepping on the line during their heat. The disqualification came after a successful appeal by South Africa, who argued that they had been impeded during the race. This appeal was upheld, resulting in the Nigerian team being removed from the final.

The disqualification has sparked disappointment among fans and athletes, who had high hopes for the Nigerian team’s performance.
