Chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Nureni Adeniran yesterday said the state government has put in place deliberate policies to encourage and prioritize basic education for children, especially in the face of the global economic meltdown.
The SUBEB chairman who felicitated with pupils in the state, as they celebrated Children’s Day, stressed that children, both in public and private schools deserve the best form of education, as they were the most vital asset of the state, noting thus “Our sweat for our children today is a promise for a better tomorrow.”
Adeniran added that stakeholders must of necessity invest in children to reap the benefits of rapid national growth, while wishing Nigerian children, especially pupils in public basic schools across the state, a rewarding celebration.
The chairman prayed “May the innocence and promise of our children fill our homes and hearts with happiness and fond memories to cherish forever.’’
Meanwhile, the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli has called for the creation of a safe and conducive environment for all children across the country to thrive.
The lawmaker, while felicitating with the children on this year’s Children’s Day celebration, urged them to uphold the virtues of good behaviour and discipline, charging them to remain obedient and respectful, stressing the fundamental role these virtues play in forming their personalities and shaping a brighter future for themselves and the country.
He stressed that obedience forms the bedrock of character development, describing it as essential for personal and societal progress.
Alli also acknowledged the efforts of parents and guardians, extolling their dedication as well as commitment to raising responsible citizens.
