The National Examinations Council (NECO) has taken a significant step towards combating malpractice by digitalizing the recruitment process for supervisors and assistant supervisors for both internal and external examinations, including the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
In a statement released by the Acting Director of Information and Digital Communication, Azeez Sani, the council emphasized that the move to digitize the recruitment process aims to enhance efficiency and curb sharp practices.
The migration from manual recruitment to an online system ensures that supervisor nomination forms, appointment letters, and e-photo albums are generated electronically, streamlining the process and minimizing human error.
Furthermore, NECO disclosed that routine swapping of supervisors and assistant supervisors during examinations will also be facilitated through the online platform, further enhancing the efficiency of examination administration.
Qualified teachers holding Nigeria Certificate In Education (NCE), Degree Certificate, Master’s Degrees, PhDs, and Professors are encouraged to apply as supervisors and assistant supervisors for the BECE or SSCE, both internally and externally.
Prior to the implementation of the digitalization system, NECO conducted the recruitment of supervisors and assistant supervisors manually, a process now replaced with a more streamlined and transparent online approach.
