Roger Brown, CEO of Nigerian independent oil and gas company Seplat Energy, is set to speak at the African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energy conference, scheduled for November 4-8. This premier energy event in Africa will host discussions around sustainable energy development, with a focus on gas resources, as Seplat Energy is committed to leading Nigeria’s energy transition.
Seplat Energy plans to commence production at the $650 million ANOH Gas Processing Plant in Nigeria by Q3, 2024. This project, aimed at doubling the company’s gas production, will significantly contribute to the domestic market by producing 300 million cubic feet of gas per day (mcf/d), primarily for power generation, thus supporting Nigeria’s transition away from diesel-fired power generation.
During the AEW conference, Roger Brown will provide insights into the role of gas in Africa’s energy landscape, aiming to attract more investment across the energy value chain.
AEW: Invest in African Energy serves as a vital platform for project operators, financiers, technology providers, and governments to sign deals in African energy. Seplat Energy’s participation underscores its commitment to driving Nigeria’s economic growth through gas resources.
In addition to the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, Seplat Energy is upgrading its Sepele Gas Plant to increase production capacity and meet export specifications, thereby eliminating flared practices. The company also operates the Oben Gas Plant, which supplies gas for power generation, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s electricity supply.
Seplat Energy’s upstream operations include interests in several onshore and shallow offshore assets, with plans for the development of the Sibiri prospect and the expansion of production at existing fields.
“The monetization of Africa’s gas resources will play a strategic part in delivering affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy for the population. Through its project portfolio and investments, Seplat Energy is laying the foundation for Nigeria’s economy to grow through gas,” stated NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber.
AEW: Invest in African Energy aims to promote the development of African gas, recognizing its pivotal role in driving multi-sector growth in Africa. Roger Brown’s participation in the event will further strengthen discussions on monetizing African gas and fostering investment in the continent’s energy sector.
