Religion Cannot Divide Us, Says Akpabio to Muslim Senators

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, hosted a gathering for Muslim senators and a few Christian colleagues for Iftar (breaking of fast), Akpabio emphasized that religion cannot create division within the upper legislative chamber or Nigeria as a whole, despite the senators belonging to different faiths.

Akpabio stressed the unity among senators, regardless of religious differences, stating, “Religion cannot divide us.” He highlighted the simultaneous occurrence of the Christian Lenten and Muslim Ramadan periods as a sign that both Muslims and Christians worship the same Supreme God.

Addressing the gathering, Akpabio reminded his colleagues of their purpose in the world, emphasizing the importance of living in peace, loving one another, and working together for progress. He expressed gratitude to Allah for keeping them alive to witness the occasion and extended congratulations on the Easter celebration.

The Senate President emphasized the unity among senators, emphasizing that despite political disagreements and familial conflicts, they all serve humanity through Almighty God. He urged them to remember that they will be held accountable for their deeds on earth.

In response, the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, thanked Akpabio for the invitation, stating that it demonstrated the care and consideration he has for all lawmakers. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to come together in fellowship and praised Akpabio’s caring nature.

The gathering served as a symbol of unity and camaraderie among senators of different religious backgrounds, reinforcing the message that despite religious diversity, they are all united in serving humanity and their country.

Justice Emeka Nwite authorized the warrant earlier today following the EFCC’s request.

Pandemonium erupted as Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, reportedly intervened to prevent the arrest of former governor Yahaya Bello at his Abuja residence, leading to gunfire.

Armed operatives of the EFCC had sought to arrest Bello, but faced resistance upon arrival. Governor Ododo later arrived at the scene and was suspected to have left with Bello in his official vehicle.

President Bola Tinubu has praised Dangote Oil and Gas Limited for slashing the price of diesel, a move expected to impact industries and transportation costs positively.

In a statement by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu emphasized the significance of the diesel price reduction, foreseeing a ripple effect on the nation’s economy.

Dangote recently announced a significant reduction in the price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) from N1,650 to N1,000 per litre for bulk purchases, with additional discounts for larger volumes.
