The Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) is planning to revamp its academic curriculum by embracing artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. The university is taking great steps to provide its students with the skills required by the rapidly changing work market.
In addition to introducing AI and robotics, YABATECH is planning to replace the traditional computer science course with a more comprehensive curriculum covering AI, robotics, and other skills related to emerging technologies. Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, the Rector, emphasized that this strategic move aims to ensure that students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities presented by the 21st-century global market.
Dr. Abdul elaborated on the plan, stating, “The AI and robotics hub will serve as a dedicated space for cutting-edge research and development in artificial intelligence and robotics technologies. Faculty, students, and industry professionals can collaborate on projects that push the boundaries of innovation.” This collaborative hub is envisioned as a dynamic environment where creativity and exploration in AI and robotics can flourish.
Highlighting the significance of this educational transformation, the rector announced that Artificial Intelligence and other skills related courses will be phased in, gradually replacing the conventional computer science course starting from the next academic session. This shift reflects YABATECH’s commitment to staying at the forefront of educational innovation.
The integration of AI and robotics into the curriculum not only aligns with the demands of the digital era but also positions YABATECH as a trailblazer in preparing students for the dynamic landscape of the job market. By embracing cutting-edge technologies, the institution is not only meeting the current needs of industry but also shaping the future of education in the ever-evolving field of technology.
