In a moment of triumph, LG Electronics has been crowned the “2023 Most Electronics Supporting Partner in Gaming” by Gameitnaija, acknowledging the company’s exceptional contributions to the esports landscape in Nigeria. The award was received by Mr. Paul Mba, the Marketing Manager of LG Electronics Nigeria, during a ceremony in Calabar, Cross River State.

Mr. Mba expressed LG Electronics’ commitment to innovation, particularly in the realm of OLED TV technology, acclaimed for its superior performance in gaming, movies, and sports. He highlighted the OLED TV’s GSYNC and Freesync compatibility, ensuring a seamless gaming experience by eliminating image tearing and blurs. The TV’s remarkable 1-millisecond response time guarantees minimal lag, translating every gamepad action instantly onto the screen. The self-lit pixels contribute to an infinite contrast ratio, delivering deeper blacks and enhancing the viewing experience in dark scenes.

Adding to the accolades, LG Electronics achieved a historic milestone with an impressive tally of 33 Innovation Awards at CES® 2024. Recognized for technological and design excellence across Home Appliance, Home Entertainment, and B2B categories, LG secured two prestigious Best of Innovation Awards for its OLED TVs.

LG’s dominance extended to various sectors, with distinctions in video displays, content, and OLED TVs. The company’s webOS, the proprietary smart TV platform, also earned acclaim for its innovative features. Use Digital Skills for Community Impact, Remi Tinubu Urges Women

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged participants of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI)/Huawei Women in Tech training to apply their digital skills toward solving community challenges and driving innovation.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the programme in Abuja, Mrs. Tinubu encouraged the 300 beneficiaries drawn from the six geopolitical zones to continue learning and adapting to new technological trends.

“Use your new skills to solve real problems in your communities because true innovation is only valuable when it improves lives,” she said, while appreciating Huawei Nigeria for partnering with RHI to empower women.

She noted that the training aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises women’s empowerment, inclusive growth, and digital transformation.

Huawei Nigeria’s Managing Director, Chris Lu, described the initiative as a step toward placing women at the forefront of the global digital economy, adding, “When women rise, nations thrive.”

The Women in Tech programme, held between April and October 2024, equipped participants with practical digital skills to enhance their businesses and participation in Nigeria’s digital economy.

FG to Train 7 Million Youths in Vocational, Digital Skills -Olawande

The Federal Government says it will empower seven million youths through vocational and digital skills training to boost innovation, self-reliance, and employability.

Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, disclosed this while receiving a delegation from the IHK Giessen-Friedberg Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Germany, in Abuja.

He said the initiative, under the Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA), aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and seeks to produce “innovators and entrepreneurs, not just job seekers.”

Olawande revealed plans to launch a digital learning platform similar to Coursera to make skill acquisition accessible nationwide.

In his remarks, Dr. Matthias Leder, CEO of IHK Giessen-Friedberg, reaffirmed Germany’s support for Nigeria’s youth development efforts and announced that 300 Nigerian youths will graduate from the Legal Labour Migration and Dual Vocational Training Project on November 12, 2025.

NiMet Deploys Electric Vehicles in Five International Airports

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has deployed electric vehicles (EVs), for airside operations at Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Enugu international airports, the first of its kind in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The agency said the move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on clean energy and sustainability.

Each airport will have charging stations to support the eco-friendly vehicles, which can travel up to 200 kilometres per charge.

NiMet noted that the initiative will reduce emissions, lower maintenance costs, and improve operational efficiency.

The adoption of EVs, it added, reflects Nigeria’s commitment to carbon reduction and global sustainability standards.

Director-General Prof. Charles Anosike described the project as a milestone in advancing green growth and modernising NiMet’s operations within the aviation industry.
