In a deeply distressing incident at Delta State Polytechnic Otefe-Oghara (DESPO), Ishie Abraham, a final year student majoring in Computer Science, met a sudden and unfortunate end, allegedly shot by his landlord, Ajiri Felix Ajaska, following a dispute over generator usage. Eyewitnesses shared the events leading up to the fatal altercation that transpired on Tuesday, December 12.
According to reports, the disagreement prompted both parties to seek resolution from the community chairman, who ruled in favor of the student. However, this decision reportedly displeased the landlord, a former community chairman, leading to alleged threats against Ishie Abraham’s life. Tragically, these threats materialized on the following day, when the landlord purportedly shot the student at close range, resulting in his immediate demise. The suspect fled the scene, leaving the community in shock.
Reacting to the heartbreaking news, the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Rioborue Deniran, issued a press release condemning the incident and calling on security authorities, including the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, and the state government, to swiftly ensure justice for the departed student.
Deniran expressed profound sympathy for the polytechnic community, especially Ishie Abraham’s immediate family and friends. In their appeal for calm among students, NANS emphasized the urgency for law enforcement to apprehend and prosecute the culprit(s) responsible for the tragic event.
The press release concluded with a strong discouragement of involvement in criminal activities, as NANS reaffirmed its commitment to preventing any form of injustice against students. The comprehensive report captures the sequence of events surrounding the unfortunate demise of Ishie Abraham, shedding light on the sorrowful circumstances and the collective call for justice.”
