Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma is a young girl from a small town called Uruagu Nnewi. She was a diligent and ambitious student attending Anglican Girls’ Secondary School. Little did she know that her quest for academic recognition would lead to a great controversy and misgivings among the general public.
It all started when the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) released the scores of the candidates who had applied for admission. Nkechiyer Umeh was announced as the candidate with the highest score of 360. However, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, with her unwavering determination, protested to the State Government, claiming that she had scored 362 and deserved recognition for her achievement.
In response to the growing interest and controversy surrounding Ejikeme’s claims, the State Government decided to form a Committee of Inquiry to investigate the matter. The committee was tasked with reviewing Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s JAMB results, conducting interviews with relevant parties, and providing recommendations based on their findings.
The committee called upon Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, the Principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, and officials from JAMB for an interactive session. Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Head of Public Affairs at JAMB, presented detailed explanations of the admission processes and policy changes that had occurred since 2021. He specifically addressed what had transpired between Ejikeme and the JAMB registration system.
JAMB revealed that Ejikeme had made several requests to the JAMB portal at different times, and on each occasion, she received the same results indicating an aggregate score of 249, with individual scores in English, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. However, Ejikeme had submitted a different set of results with an aggregate score of 362, significantly higher than the standard format. JAMB officials also highlighted discrepancies such as a different date of birth, registration number, and the use of an outdated examination center name in her manipulated result sheet.
In the presence of her principal and the Education Secretary, Ejikeme admitted that the narration given by the JAMB officials was true and accurate. She confessed that she had manipulated her UTME results by herself, using her phone and even printed the false results at a local cybercafe.
The committee sought to understand the motive behind Ejikeme’s actions, but she remained silent. Both the Principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School and the Education Secretary expressed shock and disappointment at Ejikeme’s deceitful behavior, as she had not only deceived the school but also her immediate family and the State Government.
After careful investigation, the Committee of Inquiry reached its findings. They determined that Ejikeme’s actual UTME score, as released by JAMB, was 249, while the results she paraded with an aggregate score of 362 were fake. The committee confirmed that Ejikeme had manipulated the results herself, using her phone, and the school officials expressed their dismay at her actions.
Based on these findings, the committee made the following recommendations: Ejikeme should issue a written apology to JAMB, the school, and the Anambra State Government. She should also undergo psychological counseling and therapy to address her actions. Additionally, the committee emphasized that all future JAMB candidates must strictly adhere to the guidelines and procedures set by the examination body.
In conclusion, the Committee of Inquiry commended JAMB for their diligent handling of the matter and appreciated the information provided about their interactions with Ejikeme. They hoped that the truth uncovered by their investigation would rectify the sentiments, misconceptions, and deceptions that had been circulating in the public domain.
The committee expressed their gratitude to Mr. Governor for initiating the establishment of the committee and for his confidence in their ability to uncover the truth. And so, the story of Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s JAMB score controversy came to a close, leaving a lesson for all to follow the path of honesty and integrity in their pursuits.
