Abuja City Journal National Essay Competition On Leadership For Youths

ABUJA CITY JOURNAL NATIONAL ESSAY COMPETITION ON LEADERSHIP FOR YOUTHS

We are pleased to announce a National Essay Competition on Leadership organised by the Abuja City Journal – an online news platform seeking to promote fair and balanced journalism while focusing on providing incisive investigative journalism.

The theme for the competition is “The Nigerian in the Public Space, to whom I can entrust my future”. The essay should not be more than 1,000 words and must explore not only the qualities that endear the writer to the subject person, but also how the public works and ideals the individual has personally impacted on the writer.

ELIGIBILITY:

Participants must be between the ages of 18-35 years, possess any of the following: a registered voters card, a national identity card, a drivers license or an international passport( scanned copy of any of these to be uploaded during registration) and be residents of Nigeria.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Entries will be judged based on Creativity 40%, Structure 20%, Adherence to Topic, Grammar, Length and the Wow Factor 10% each to bring total assessment score to 100%. 

Entries that exceed the 80% mark will scale through to the second reading where voting will be done (to select 1st-3rd place) by judges after reading the essays aloud and engaging in discussions about their content and value. 

Entries that fall below the 80% mark will be issued Certificates of Participation.

PRIZE:

First Place will earn 1 million naira payable upon win

1st Runner up will receive a Laptop

2nd Runner up will receive an Android phone 

HOW TO ENTER:

  1. All intending participants will register via their website www.mainstreetjournal.co
  2. Registered participants will receive a unique submission link in their email and a code in the subject line on/before 31st October, 2020 which will be used to submit their essays.
  3. Proof of meeting eligibility requirements will be uploaded during registration
