Why Professor Utomi Is Wrong
By Abbati Bako
I'm sure that Professor Utomi knows very well that Peter Obi is a regional politician because LP never have structures in 150,000 voting units or within 774 LGAs in Nigeria. This is fact! Hence, hardly to expect smaller political parties to defeat the bigger ones.
Secondly, Pat Utomi is aware that in "political strategy" there are what we called "Soft theorem areas, battle ground areas and swing areas". Hence, Peter Obi has only one soft theorem area that's "South South geopolitical zone (think of APGA?) and all the remaining 5 geopolitical zones are battle ground areas for Peter Obi. Peter Obi lack political experience in both domestic and international recognition. Nigeria is a huge country with two and a half of global population and one of the biggest market in the world.
Nigeria is one of the ten oil producing nation in the world. So, global political and economic stakeholders will prepare people with experience and capacity, ability, accountability and zeal to lead Nigeria.
My Prediction in 2023 elections
A contestant with only one soft theorem area can't win election in Democratic system anywhere around the world. But Bola Tinubu has 4/6 of theorem areas (NW, N/E/SW and N/Central) and one battle ground area (S/East) and one swing area (S/South).
Thirdly, APC and PDP are the giant and biggest political parties in Nigeria. And they tested power; currently APC has the possession of power (incumbency factor with 22 Governors out of 36) this means that they automatically has 50% chances of winning Presidential election in 2023 than PDP or even the remaining 16 political parties put together (Only Allah SWT knows best).
I think is laughable for a Professor of political economy to claim that LP has more structure than (Peter Obi and Kwankwaso are regional politicians) incumbent Government of APC (8years) and opposition party PDP that tested power for 16 years (despite their naivety in those years of governability in Nigeria).
Conclusion
In the field of "political science" we shall never expect a professor of political economy to make such wrongful statement. Conclusively, just like in USA "Democrats and Republican" can Utomi say amongst the smaller political parties there is one with more structure than the two giant political parties that has been in existence for the past of about 246 years in America?
In Democratic system there are always bigger and smaller political parties. In UK Conservative and Labor are the biggest political parties and you hardly expect Liberal party to defeat the bigger parties in election.
