The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has raised alarm over a fake rescheduling racket targeting desperate UTME candidates with false promises in exchange for payment.
At the center of the scam is a Sterling Bank account with the name “Copyrightwriter Personal J Rescheduling Flw” and account number 8520641017.
Victims are lured into paying N15,700 to reschedule missed exams — a service JAMB says it does not offer.
“This is pure fraud,” the Board stated, distancing itself from the syndicate and stressing that no private entity or account is authorized to collect payments on its behalf.
JAMB has called on Sterling Bank to act swiftly by freezing the account and assisting security agencies in tracking the culprits.
Investigations are already underway to bring the fraudsters to book.
While JAMB affirmed that no rescheduling is allowed for missed exams due to personal reasons, it clarified that only candidates affected by biometric verification failures may be considered for a free retest after proper verification.
The Board urged the public to remain vigilant and ignore any unofficial payment requests, adding that all legitimate services are either covered by the registration fee or offered at no extra cost.
