The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully arrested a 45-year-old physically challenged man, Godwin Emuneyin, who exploited his wheelchair to conceal and distribute prohibited substances, including methamphetamine and cannabis in Afuze, Edo State.
The arrest, executed on Tuesday, November 7, was a result of credible intelligence received by the NDLEA. Upon apprehension, Emuneyin was found in possession of a wooden box used to hide illicit substances, including 18 pinches of methamphetamine, one block, and 71 wraps of cannabis.
In addition to this arrest, NDLEA operatives in Edo State conducted successful operations in Aviosi forest (Owan West Local Council) and Utese forest (Ovia North East Council), recovering 42 bags of cannabis weighing 480kgs and 231.5kgs of the substance, respectively. Furthermore, a cannabis farm measuring 0.778960 hectare was destroyed.
In Adamawa State, a Toyota Corolla car carrying 30,899 Tramadol pills (225mg and 100mg) was intercepted along the Ngurore-Yola road. The driver, Sani Samaila (a.k.a Isa Male), 25, confessed to transporting the consignment from Jalingo, Taraba State, to Yola, Adamawa State.
On Wednesday, November 8, in Ngurore town, a suspect named Abdullahi Sani (a.k.a Danfulani) was arrested with dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis sativa. The subsequent operation led to the recovery of 19 blocks of compressed cannabis weighing 13kgs at the residence of a drug lord, Alhaji Bubakari (a.k.a dan Mamuda).
In Ogun State, a significant drug bust occurred with the destruction of 18.875 tonnes of Cannabis sativa on a 7.55-hectare farmland. Another 100 jumbo bags weighing 1,100 kilograms of the substance were confiscated in James town, Ogunmakin area, leading to the arrest of Okpor Chukwuma and six other male suspects.
A commercial bus driver, Olayinka Sowo, 25, was arrested on Friday, November 10, along Ibadan – Akure expressway over alleged conspiracy to transport 45.150kgs of cannabis from Lagos to Osun State.
Simultaneously, NDLEA officers in Abuja intercepted 7,980 pills of diazepam and 567 bottles of codeine syrup in a commercial bus along Abaji-Abuja highway. A subsequent operation at Zuba motor park resulted in the arrest of Ugwu Ikenna, 30, the owner of the contraband.
In Delta State, NDLEA operatives, supported by the Nigerian Army, raided a remote forest in Umuchime community, Ndokwa West Local Council. The operation led to the destruction of 12.5 tons of cannabis on five hectares of farmland, along with the recovery of 53.22kgs of processed weeds and seeds. A suspect named Christopher Anim (alias Ogidi) was also apprehended.
Finally, in Kano, two suspects, Amarachukwu Eugene, 32, and Abdulaziz Auwal, 25, were arrested with 202 blocks of cannabis weighing 113.1kgs on Tuesday, November 7, by NDLEA operatives.
