The Federal Ministry of Education has debunked a viral social media message claiming that schools across Nigeria will shut down on November 24, 2025, describing it as false and misleading.
In a statement on Saturday, ministry spokesperson Folasade Boriowo said no such directive was issued by the Federal Government, the ministry, state education authorities, or any security agency.
She urged the public to rely on verified information from official channels and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports.
The ministry reiterated that only communications from the Federal Government, the Ministry of Education, state governments, and recognised security agencies should be regarded as authentic.
The clarification follows the recent closure of 41 federal schools in high-risk areas due to insecurity, particularly in Niger and Kebbi States.
Several states, including Kwara, Plateau, Katsina and Niger, have also shut some schools, while Taraba State has directed immediate deboarding in all public and private schools.
