The Federal Government has given all tertiary institutions 30 days to submit detailed reports on unutilised TETFund allocations or risk sanctions.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, issued the directive during a meeting with heads of tertiary institutions in Abuja on Thursday.
He expressed concern over the persistent failure of some institutions to fully utilise intervention funds meant for infrastructure and capacity development.
“Institutions must submit reconciled reports of all unutilised funds within 30 days.
“Unused allocations may be redirected to priority projects, and rollovers without valid justification will no longer be allowed,” Alausa warned.
He said the ministry will introduce capacity-building programmes to strengthen compliance and financial reporting, alongside quarterly reviews to track utilisation.
To promote transparency, a public dashboard will soon display real-time data on TETFund disbursements and project implementation.
The directive follows repeated warnings from TETFund over large volumes of unutilised allocations.
In July, the agency threatened to delist non-compliant institutions and reallocate their funds to performing ones.
