The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command has rescued a woman and her three children aged 8, 3, and 9 months, from a violent domestic situation in Abuja.
The children were found with their father, Mr. David Tersoo, 45, who locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed.
He was arrested on September 9, 2025, after a coordinated operation by police operatives.
During the arrest, officers recovered a pump-action firearm, white powder, and other suspected illicit substances. One of the children had visible bruises, while all four victims have since been placed in protective custody.
FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the operation followed a distress call and was executed by officers of the Mpape Division and the Command’s Gender Unit, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs.
Despite resistance, police subdued the suspect without casualties. Tersoo is currently undergoing drug tests as part of ongoing investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adewale Ajao, commended the swift intervention of the Ministry and vigilant neighbours whose timely alert helped avert a tragedy.
He urged victims of domestic violence to speak out and assured residents of the Command’s commitment to justice and safety.
Police sources disclosed that Tersoo, a contractor, has a history of domestic abuse.
