The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has arrested a 50-year-old widow, Ifeoma Ezewuike, for allegedly attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine.
The suspect, proprietor of Golden Star Creation, a fashion store on Ago Palace Way, Okota, was intercepted on Friday, August 22, 2025, at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, Lagos, while trying to deliver the drug to clients in Abuja.
According to NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, Ezewuike concealed the substance by faking a pregnancy.
A search of her residence in the Ago Palace area led to the recovery of 200 grams of a cutting agent used in producing a particular type of cocaine.
Ezewuike reportedly confessed that she inherited the illicit trade from her late husband, who died two years ago, despite having operated her fashion business for two decades.
In a related operation, officers from the NDLEA Directorate of Operation and General Investigation (DOGI), intercepted a shipment of 48.6 kilograms of cannabis, popularly known as “loud,” at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday, August 19.
The consignment, smuggled in three cartons of kitchen sinks, was traced to the United States.
