Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has revealed that his decision to enroll at the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Lagos, was driven by his desire to become a certified and competent sports administrator.
Yobo made this known on Monday during an inspection tour by the NIS Advisory Committee, led by the Director General, Philip Shaibu, who visited his classroom as part of their visit to the institution.
The committee inspected various facilities, including hostels, the library, gymnasiums, offices, and conference rooms at the 51-year-old sports institute.
Speaking as a student of Sports Management, Yobo emphasized the importance of gaining formal knowledge and experience in sports administration to complement his background as a former player and coach.
“From my background as a former player and a coach, I want to have the requisite experience and certification in sports management and administration,” Yobo said.
“I believe that as a sports person, there is no knowledge too small. I need to widen my mindset from the school.”
Yobo, along with his classmates, expressed a shared goal of becoming professionally certified in sports management to enhance their contributions to the field.
