e National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 60-year-old drug kingpin, Okpara Paul Chigozie, in Lagos after over seven years on the run.
He was nabbed on July 13 at his hideout in Isheri, Ojo, following the arrest of a courier, Achebe Kenneth Nnamdi, with 8.5kg of drugs en route Onitsha.
A follow-up raid at Okpara’s residence yielded 3.1kg of cocaine and methamphetamine, raising the syndicate’s total drug haul to over 11.6kg.
Other NDLEA operations across Nigeria included the arrest of Omoregie Uyiosa at Lagos airport with 7,790 pills of tramadol and rohypnol en route Italy, and the interception of 1.7kg of skunk bound for Pakistan.
In Kaduna, 742.8kg of skunk and Colorado were seized, while in Gombe and Borno, nearly 100,000 pills of opioids were recovered.
A grandmother in Bayelsa and four traffickers on the Okene-Lokoja highway were also arrested with large quantities of illicit drugs.
In Aba, Abia State, a dealer’s hideout was raided, yielding heroin, cocaine, tramadol, meth, and cash.
NDLEA says the crackdown will continue nationwide.
