Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has accused a former RCCG pastor of absconding with $8,000 in church funds, abandoning his wife in South Africa, and remarrying in the United States.
She made the revelation during a recent RCCG men’s programme, where she shared the troubling account in a video that has since gone viral.
According to her, the unnamed pastor from Ekiti State was assigned to a RCCG parish in Cape Town, South Africa.
During a missionary visit, she was dismayed to find the church holding worship inside a fast-food restaurant. Midway into her sermon, staff of the restaurant reportedly began removing chairs, signaling the end of the church’s allocated time.
When she inquired about securing a permanent worship venue, the pastor proposed a business investment plan requiring $8,000.
The idea was to purchase a used vehicle and hand it over to a tourism company to generate income, which would later be used to buy land for the church.
Pastor Folu said she released the funds, but the pastor allegedly diverted the money, fled South Africa, left his wife behind, and later remarried in the United States.
“The woman he abandoned is now almost running mad,” she lamented, describing the betrayal as heartbreaking.
She decried the growing trend of deceit and lack of spiritual integrity within the Church, calling on RCCG men to uphold Christian values.
“Are we going to continue with such a lying spirit, a deceitful spirit in the kingdom of God?” she asked.
Pastor Folu urged a return to holiness and the foundational principles of the faith.
“We must go back to the old path, where we look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,” she said.
She also reflected on the humble beginnings of Redemption City, RCCG’s global headquarters, noting the sacrifices made by early church members.
“For three years, there was no electricity. We used lanterns and ground with stones even though we had machines where we came from,” she recalled.
