Veteran striker Brown Ideye has officially parted ways with Enyimba FC, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the club for their support during his short stint in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner, who returned to Nigerian football after nearly two decades abroad, made seven appearances for the People’s Elephant, scoring two goals.
His last involvement in the NPFL was with Ocean Boys during the 2006/07 season.
In an emotional farewell shared on social media, Ideye thanked the club’s chairman, staff, teammates, and supporters for the warm reception and unforgettable experience.
“To the Chairman, Staff, my teammates and fans of Enyimba FC thank you for the wonderful journey,” he wrote.
“It’s been an honour to wear the jersey and play for one of the biggest and best football club in Nigeria and Africa.
“As I move on, I’m grateful for the fond memories we created together on and off the pitch, and I appreciate the love, respect and support you all gave me from day one.
“This club will always have a great place in my heart. With Love and Appreciation.”
Ideye’s departure marks the end of a nostalgic homecoming for the former West Brom and Olympiacos striker, whose return sparked excitement among local fans.
