NFF: Flying Eagles Get Final Push

Published

By Njoku Chijioke

With a World Cup ticket within reach, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have received a strong charge from the top. Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mohammed Sanusi, visited the under twenty squad in Ismailia, Egypt, urging them to go all out in their quarterfinal clash against Senegal.

Sanusi’s pep talk came ahead of Monday’s crucial duel at the Suez Canal Stadium, a match that could send the team to the semifinals of the Africa U twenty Cup of Nations and secure Nigeria a spot at the 2025 FIFA U twenty World Cup in Chile.

“You must give your best. Reaching the last four is not just a target, it is our gateway to Chile,” Sanusi told the players, assuring them of the federation’s full support and highlighting President Tinubu’s keen interest in youth football.

Former coach John Obuh reinforced the message, stressing that World Cup qualification must take precedence over lifting the continental title.

The Flying Eagles placed second in Group B with five points and now face a Senegalese side determined to block their path. But with fresh motivation and national expectations riding high, Nigeria’s boys have only one goal — make the last four and book a ticket to the world stage.
