The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has withheld the results of 2,577 candidates who sat for the 2024 second series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), for private candidates due to suspected examination malpractice.
In a statement, WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, announced that affected candidates must visit the WAEC Notice of Examination Malpractice Portal to address the allegations.
Of the 65,023 candidates who took the exam, 62,354 (95.90%), have received their results, while 2,669 (4.10%), are still pending due to submission errors.
While WAEC has not disclosed the specific malpractice cases, candidates with withheld results are expected to challenge or clarify their status through official channels.
Meanwhile, 43,923 candidates (67.55%), secured credit and above in at least five subjects, while 34,878 (53.64%), met the crucial requirement of earning credit passes in both English Language and Mathematics.
The examination was conducted across 5,067 centres nationwide, incorporating both traditional and computer-based testing methods.
