Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja has urged students to remain steadfast in their academic pursuits and embrace their roles as agents of change.
He made this call during the maiden matriculation ceremony of Lux Mundi University, which also marked the unveiling of Archbishop Lucius Ugorji as the institution’s Chancellor.
In his address, Kaigama lauded Ugorji’s appointment, describing it as a testament to his commitment to faith, service, and integrity.
“Your investiture as Chancellor recognizes your unwavering dedication to the Church and society.
“As President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, you have been a steadfast leader, advocating for peace, unity, and justice,” Kaigama said.
Kaigama emphasized the vital role Ugorji would play in nurturing academic excellence while upholding the university’s core values.
“A Chancellor is not just a leader but a mentor and advocate for student success.
“I am confident you will bring the same dedication and wisdom that have defined your distinguished service,” he added.
Addressing the pioneer students, Kaigama encouraged them to build a lasting legacy for the institution.
“You are the foundation of this university’s future. The mission to combine academic rigor with moral integrity rests on your shoulders. Embrace this noble task with determination,” he concluded.
The event marked a significant milestone in Lux Mundi University’s journey, combining the celebration of its first matriculation with the investiture of a visionary leader at the helm.
