Grammy-winning Nigerian music star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed he is now considering fatherhood as he approaches his mid-thirties.

The artist made the disclosure during his 34th birthday celebration in Lagos on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

Just over a year after declaring he wasn’t ready for children, Burna Boy hinted that age is prompting a shift in perspective. Speaking in pidgin, he said, “Na so Jowizaza follow me talk the last time, I come dey think about my life. Omo, I don dey old oh, I for begin born pikins,” referencing a recent conversation with oil magnate Jowizaza as a turning point.

This represents a change from his stance in May 2024, when he said he would only have children once he was fully settled or married, and able to be present “every single minute of every day.” At the time, he said, “I feel like my kids deserve better than I got. And I got both my mum and dad, so you understand?”

During the birthday toast, Burna Boy also addressed past online speculation about his fertility, dismissing the rumors with humor.

“Let’s even say that it’s true that I can’t have any kids, have you not heard of IVF?” he quipped.

The announcement has sparked buzz among fans, many of whom are excited to see the Afrofusion icon embrace a new chapter in life.

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has apologised to his wife, Natasha Osawaru, their children, and fans following backlash over a controversial comment he made during a recent podcast.

On July 1, 2Baba stirred outrage after claiming that “a man is not built to sexually be with one woman,” suggesting that men may struggle with monogamy even while loving their partners deeply.

The remark was widely criticised as an attempt to justify infidelity.

Responding to the uproar, 2Baba released a video apology, admitting he “f**ked up” with the statement and acknowledging that his words were hurtful. “I know I’m going to get cancelled,” he said. “I’m terribly sorry. My wife and kids didn’t deserve to be dragged into this.”

He described the remark as “unlegendary” and unreflective of his true values.

He also reaffirmed his love for his family and fans, promising to be more thoughtful moving forward.

Senator Ned Nwoko (APC-Delta North), has pledged ₦200 million to support a new talent hunt initiative aimed at discovering and nurturing young creatives in Nigeria’s booming Nollywood industry.

The lawmaker, who made the announcement at the opening of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), office in Abuja and the launch of its multi-purpose Super App, said the initiative would help elevate Nollywood’s standards by enabling the production of quality television series.

“A well-produced series can serve generations,” said Nwoko, who is the Chairman of the AGN Board of Patrons. “To kick-start the process and support talent discovery, I am committing ₦200 million.”

He emphasized the global recognition of Nollywood and the need for more institutional and individual support to improve the quality of local productions to match international standards.

Nwoko also revealed that he is sponsoring a bill to establish the AGN as a statutory professional body, placing it on par with associations like the NBA and NMA.

Highlighting Delta’s creative contributions, he noted: “Asaba is the home of Nollywood. The region’s oil and gas wealth and cultural influence deserve a new state; Anioma State.”

The senator’s gesture is seen as a strategic boost for Nigeria’s creative economy and a personal commitment to strengthening the future of African storytelling through film and television.
